A new look and improved navigation have made finding information easier on the IRS' educational website for exempt organizations, Stay Exempt (www.stayexempt.irs.gov/). Visitors of the redesigned website can now search the site using three tabbed gateways: "New Organizations," "Existing Organizations," and "In-Depth Topics."
Use the "New Organizations" tab to find out more about how to apply for tax exemption, the life cycle of an exempt organization, and Form 1023, Educational Resources. For information on topics such as how to maintain your tax-exempt status and required disclosure rules, use the "Existing Organizations" tab.
More detailed information can be found in the "In-Depth Topics" tab, which directs you to presentations on subjects such as navigating various IRS resources, preparing Form 990 and 990-EZ, and courses on disaster relief initiatives.
