Each year we attend the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans’ U.S. Annual Employee Benefits Conference. The conference draws over 5,000 attendees and is always a great educational and networking event for employee benefit plan trustees and professionals. It’s also a great place for us to catch up with clients, prospects, and friends of the Firm.
We will be attending the upcoming 61st U.S. Annual Employee Benefits Conference which is scheduled for November 8-11, 2015 at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu. Legacy Partner Eileen Brassil will be co-presenting with Ian Dingwall, the Chief Accountant of the Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration on the topic of “5500 Update.” Their session is scheduled for Monday November 9 at 2:30 PM. Partner Eric Wallin will be presenting at the Accountant’s session: “P-ACCT2” on Monday at 10:15 AM. Partner Bruce Pavlik will be speaking at 7 AM at the “Ask the Accountants” Session. Partner Tim Cibulka will also be attending sessions at the Conference. For information on the conference, visit www.ifebp.org/education/usannual/Pages/default.aspx
Illinois Public Pension Fund Association
Partner Colin Thompson, along with Senior Manager Tim Fagan and Marketing Director Julie Tucek attended the Illinois Public Pension Fund Association’s MidAmerican Pension Conference on October 6 - 9, 2015 at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva. The Conference was attended by over 1,000 Police and Fire Pension Fund trustees and service providers.
IFEBP Accounting and Auditing Institute for EB Plans
Partner Eileen Brassil was on hand at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) Accounting and Auditing Institute for Employee Benefit Plans which took place in San Francisco June 15-17, 2015. Eileen presented at the Institute on “Hot Topics in Defined Contribution Plans” where she discussed issues for employee benefit plan providers. The Institute is a must-attend conference for CPAs who audit employee benefit plans. The conference provides up-to-date information on the latest financial statement disclosure requirements, accounting and auditing best practices, and a DOL update.
Ian Dingwall, the Chief Accountant of the Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration, spoke at the Institute and gave an update on topics of particular interest this year, including the much-discussed recent study of employee benefit plan audits (see article on page xx.). As mentioned above, Eileen will be co-presenting in Hawaii with Mr. Dingwall.
Back in the Legacy offices, our partners return from conferences and share what they learned with all of our Firm’s professionals at in-house seminars. We believe it is vital for our professionals to keep up to date on all of the topics affecting our clients. This allows us to provide best practices advice and guidance to our benefit plan clients and to assist them with issues and challenges affecting their operations and reporting requirements. Please let us know if you would like any additional information or if you have questions about any of the topics mentioned above.
