The Department of Labor has recently issued two compliance checklists that can be useful to health plan administrators in understanding current healthcare legislation and related responsibilities.
The HIPAA and Other Health Care-Related Provisions checklist is a useful tool for group health plans, plan sponsors, and plan administrators to determine whether a health plan is in compliance with some of the provisions of Part 7 of ERISA. The checklist is available at http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/pdf/part7-1.pdf.
The Affordable Care Act Provisions checklist details the various protections and benefits for consumers that are beginning to take effect or that will become effective very soon. This checklist was designed to assist plans in understanding and complying with the new law. It provides an informal explanation of the statutes and the most recent regulations and interpretations, and includes citations to the underlying legal provisions. The checklist is available at http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/pdf/part7-2.pdf.
