Whether a child is in the hospital for a short or long-term stay, Snow City Arts turns their time to heal into a time to learn, providing young patients with instruction in creative writing, music, painting, photography, and filmmaking. Each arts-based workshop is benchmarked to state and federal learning standards and can be used for classroom credit, helping these students remain in-step with their peers.
In 2011, Snow City Arts was recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts for its "outstanding arts in healthcare" programs. In 2012, over 1,100 children were served at Rush Children's Hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and Children's Hospital University of Illinois.
On Friday, September 27, Snow City Arts is hosting its 15th Anniversary Gala at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago. To join the celebration or to learn more about the great work of Snow City Arts, visit www.snowcityarts.org.
