AICPA National Not-for-Profit Industry Conference
Partner Paul Doetsch will attend the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) National Not-For-Profit Industry Conference on June 20-21, 2013 at Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC.  Topics include: dealing with new regulatory issues affecting tax, compliance, accounting and auditing, and governance; financial management and leadership strategies; and collaboration and fundraising ideas.  
 
The industry's top experts and thought leaders participate in the conference to offer their perspectives on critical issues facing nonprofits. Such issues and information is imperative for nonprofit service providers to understand and utilize as it relates to nonprofit clients.

AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Conference
Partners Eric Baertsch, Eileen Brassil, and Bob Cann attended the AICPA Employee Benefit Conference May 14-16, 2013 in Grapevine (Dallas), Texas. The conference provided attendees with key updates on recent and proposed legislative changes and regulatory issues affecting employee benefit plans.
 
Illinois CPA Society's Not-for-Profit Committee Roundtables
The Illinois CPA Society’s (ICPAS) Not-for-Profit Committee sponsors a series of Roundtables to provide opportunities for financial professionals who are involved with nonprofit organizations—both on the public accounting and organization side— to network, learn, and share information.  Partner Rose Doherty, who is a board member of the ICPAS, facilitated the ICPAS Nonprofit Roundtable on May 9, 2013.  Rose also spoke on audit and banking controls. 
 
Illinois CPA Society Not-for-Profit Conferences
Partner Rose Doherty attended the Illinois CPA Society's Not-for-Profit Conferences at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL on November 28-29, 2012. International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans Annual Conference
Partner Bruce Pavlik presented at the IFEBP's 58th Annual Employee Benefits Conference in San Diego November 11-14, 2012. PrimeGlobal 2012 Inaugural Construction Conference
Partner Eileen Brassil attended PrimeGlobal's 2012 Inaugural Construction Conference on November 1-2, 2012 at MileNorth in Chicago. Eileen was also a presenter at the Conference, speaking on the topic of "Disclosures About Participation in a Multiemployer Pension Plan."
 
Association Forum's Annual Meeting
Marketing Director Julie Tucek participated in Association Forum's Association Week 2012 by attending the Annual Meeting on June 19 at McCormick Place in Chicago. She was pleased to see many of our clients and colleagues at this educational and networking event.
 
Association for Accounting Marketing Summit
Marketing Director Julie Tucek attended the Association for Accounting Marketing's (AAM) annual summit held June 10-13, 2012 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. This year's summit was held in conjunction with AICPA Practitioners Symposium and TECH+ Conference. More than 400 marketers from the U.S. and Canada attended the conference, which featured programs focused on new ideas and timely topics directly relating to the current challenges and opportunities firms and marketers face in the accounting industry.
 
IFEBP Benefit Plan Professionals Institute for Accountants
Partner Eileen Brassil attended the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) Benefit Plan Professionals Institute for Accountants in San Francisco, California from June 11-13, 2012. Eileen served as speaker for Alternative Investments: Effective Auditing Procedures, a session addressing topics such as what internal controls a plan should have in place and what documentation an auditor should retain. She also served as a panel expert for the Open Forum, which allows participants to ask questions and discuss topics covered in previous sessions.
 
IGAF Polaris Women's Leadership Conference
Partner Louise King attended the IGAF Polaris (now known as PrimeGlobal) Women's Leadership Conference June 3-5, 2012 at the Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference provided sessions on a range of leadership topics, including career paths, networking, business development, and team building.
 
Illinois AFL-CIO Labor Management Reporting Seminar
Partner Bob Cann presented an annual update on IRS reporting at the Illinois AFL-CIO Labor Management Reporting Seminar. The event was co-sponsored by the Illinois AFL-CIO and the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Labor Management Standards. The two one-day seminars were held in Burr Ridge, Illinois on February 14, 2012 and Springfield, Illinois on February 16, 2012.
 
IGAF Polaris' Business Assurance and Tax and Audit & Accounting Conferences
Partner Eileen Brassil attended the IGAF Polaris (now known as PrimeGlobal) 7th Annual Business Assurance Conference while Lisa Volland, CPA, attended the 32nd Annual Tax and Audit & Accounting Conference. Both conferences were held January 3-6, 2012 in Orlando, Florida.
 
Eileen attended the Accounting and Auditing Update, Revenue Recognition, and Lease Accounting seminars while Lisa attended tax seminars, including an Economic View of Real Estate and Tax Practice Management.
 
The conferences provided many opportunities to hear about best practices and expertise from other firms around the country.
