In memory of former Partner Donna Hubert, the Donna A. Hubert Memorial Scholarship Fund was established. Donna was a 1979 graduate of the University of Illinois – Chicago, earning a degree in Accounting when women in the field were sufficiently rare. Donna devoted her career to Legacy and its predecessor firm, celebrating a 35th anniversary before her death. She was one of the Firm’s first female Partners and became the head of our Tax Department.
In her honor, this annual renewable $1,500 scholarship is for women interested in pursuing a career in accounting. Qualified applicants are female undergraduate students who have declared Accounting as their Major.
We are pleased to announce the 2021 recipient is Rachel K. Murray. Rachel is an Accounting and Business Administration/Finance Major at Augustana College. She is scheduled to graduate in May, 2023.
In her application, Rachel shared, “I immediately knew I wanted to apply for the Donna A. Hubert Scholarship after reading the brief description about Donna Hubert and her impact in the accounting field. Her legacy as a successful woman in a male-dominated profession is incredibly admirable and an inspiration for young women everywhere.”
Of the scholarship, Donna’s son Dan Hubert said, “We believe this not only creates opportunities for these women, but empowers them to go after their dreams, regardless of adversity. This is something my mom would be immensely proud of and embodies what she fought for all those years.”
