Staff Events

In addition to working hard, our people have a great time together both during and outside of work!

The Legacy softball team valiantly defended their title on Monday, July 18, 2011 in a tough loss against long-time rival RVG Partners (Remy & Vitale).  The Legacy team fought their way to the Championship Game by beating KPMG in an 11-inning thriller.  Legacy was down 7-0 after three innings.  The Legacy batters then chipped away at the lead, tying the game at 7 in the bottom of the 7th.  The Legacy defense stopped the early-inning rush and held KPMG scoreless for the final eight innings.  The score remained 7-7 through the bottom of the 11th when Legacy prevailed with the final run of the game.

 

Heading immediately to the Championship Game as darkness loomed and after a dirty, dusty, hot 11-inning game wasn't ideal. That being said, Remy scored first, but by the top of the 4th Legacy had the lead 6-1.  Remy fought back to tie up the game in the 4th.  Legacy bats went silent.  In the top of the 5th, Remy repeatedly hit into the outfield and the ball was lost in the dark night sky.  The score was 11-6 with Remy taking over the lead by the time Legacy closed out the inning.  In the bottom of the 5th, which would turn out to be the last inning of the game, darkness had set in for good and the tired, hot Legacy batters struggled to see the ptiches.  It was a hard-fought, disappointing loss to a very strong Remy team.

 

It was a great effort by the entire Legacy team.  Jim Kemperas pitched two great games and Nick Hall proved to be a great last minute sub.  Legacy fans included Mary Ceretto, Kelley Otto, Edison Uschold, and Julie Tucek.

 

The team needs the off-season to rest and condition, but will be back for more in 2012!

At our Annual After Tax Season Party, we honor many of our employees with both serious and humorous awards.  The recipient of the 2011 Thomas W. Havey Team Spirit Award was Mike West.  This award is given in Mr. Havey's honor to the person or persons who most embody teamwork and dedication to the Firm.  Congratulations to Mike for his exceptional team spirit and dedication to Legacy.  The Legacy Rookie of the Year and many other awards were also given out at the event.

Legacy Golf Outing
The Firm also hosts an annual golf outing, which takes place on a Friday afternoon in the summer.  This year's outing was on July 8, 2011 at the Chicago Heights Park District Course.  As in previous years, the event was capped off by a great dinner, awards ceremony, and a competitive bean bag tournament.
