Senior Tax Accountant, Chicago office
 
Legacy Professionals LLP is looking for an experienced tax professional to play a key role in its tax department.  This proactive, independent professional will perform a wide variety of tax compliance and planning related tasks, interact with clients and government agencies, and supervise tax staff and paraprofessionals.
 
Qualified candidates must possess a relevant degree, CPA certification and license, and at least 3-4 years of experience in tax compliance.  A Master's degree in taxation is helpful.  The candidate must also be familiar with the use of tax compliance software (ProSystem preferred) and internet-based tax research materials.  Time management, organization skills, and the ability to work independently is a necessity.  Candidates must also be willing to adapt to performing job responsibilities during the conversion to a paperless work environment.
 
Mandatory overtime during tax season (January through April 15th), including weekdays and weekends, is required. During the remainder of the year, overtime is worked on an as needed basis.  Candidates must maintain and upgrade skills through the attendance of continuing professional education seminars.
 
Primary responsibilities include:
1. Prepare and review corporate, fiduciary, partnership, and individual income tax returns.  Prepare adn review estate and gift tax returns.
2. Peform and document tax research.
3. Analyze IRS and state revenue department notices and prepare appropriate responses.
4. Represent clients in IRS and state revenue department audits.
5. Prepare tax projections and quarterly estimated tax payments.
6. Answer tax questions from clients and firm personnel.
7. Assist in recruitment and training of staff and paraprofessionals.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Not-for-Profit Audit Manager, Chicago office
 
We are looking for an additional Manager in our Chicago Audit Department with experience in the Not-for-Profit accounting industry.  Responsibilities include scheduling, planning, and efficient completion of each engagement.  This person will also be responsible for keeping in close touch with the engagement team while the work is in process, and reviewing, in detail, and approving the draft of the report, opinion, management letter, tax return, work papers, and other evidential matters obtained during the engagement.  Additionally, as Manager, this person will supervise and direct all professional staff assigned to each engagement.
 
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minimum of 6-8 years of Audit experience, with significant Not-for-Profit experience as well.  Qualified candidates will also have strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proficiency in Word and Excel.  Experience in A-133 auditing would be a plus, as would familiarity with QuickBooks and other accounting packages.

Commercial Audit Manager, Chicago office

Compliance Auditor, Chicago office
 
Legacy Professionals LLP is looking for an additional Compliance Auditor to perform compliance audits for various fringe benefit funds to determine if an employer is contributing properly to these benefit funds.  Initial assignments will include assisting experienced accountants on audit engagements performing a wide range of audit support functions.  This person will also be responsible for:
  • Reading collective bargaining agreements and understanding the basis upon which contributions should be made
  • Preparing audit files, setting up appointments, and sending confirmation letters
  • Reviewing previous files (if any) to ensure any previous problems have been resolved
  • Performing fieldwork based on compliance audit program
  • Preparing audit report and submitting file for review
  • Revising report after reviewed (if needed)
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a business related field and hands-on computer skills with MS Excel, Word, and email.  Additionally, this person will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision.  Qualified candidates must also possess strong analytical and research skills, be detail oriented, and be able to handle numerous assignments.  Familiarity with payroll systems is a plus.
